Duncan, our non-profit group already has the appropriate paperwork, and
yes, a tax numbers making purchased from other nurseries a possibility.
A native plant nursery has offered to do a consignment sale for us.. as
in no money down, if we don't sell them, they will take them back, and
also buy any plants we grow that don't sell. (wonderful people!) We have
on occasion had to fill in a few things, since at the last minute some
plants decided to um... look unsellable after being advertised as
available.
This plant sale is also a learning experience for the members. Nice to
know what all the little seedlings look like, how much trouble they are
to start, also when their difficult time of propagation takes place.
This is not a huge sale or any competition for the area nurseries, we do
not want to be in the business. We start at 9am and sold out by noon.
The funds we make are used for community services in our area. We also
sell them cheap in the hopes of more native plants to be used in home
gardens. Never forget one ladies comment as she stormed away from the
sale.... they are selling weeds!
