I grow a couple of varieties. Amsonia does very well in Georgia (Atlanta,
zone 7b). It can take *light* shade but does best in full sun. The leaves
become golden in the fall and are attractive in their own right. Flowers
are varying shades of blue. Amsonia is a "soft" looking plant....not
floppy, but not rigid; reminds me of Skullcap or 'Moonbeam' Coreopsis in
this. I grow itas a mid-border filler plant among various Japanese
Iris, Peonies, etc.
