I have several of these plants and really like it. I live in
western Massachusetts, zone 5. The plant is ceratinly winter hardy here.
It blooms in the late spring with starry steel blue flowers. Foliage and
habit is contained and neat and it the fall it turns a very nice golden
yellow color. Now I might add that here in the nurseries where you can
buy this plant it is tagged as growing 3-4 feet high and the first one I
bought only grew two feet high. It is possible the taller growth might
cause it to flop-I don't know. I put in several more plants last spring
and the habits were similar to the first one I have grown. But last year
I did find one that was supposed to be a dwarf form. So I'm waiting to
see what the others I put in last year will do this year with a summers
growth under their belt. The original one I have has been in place for 4
years and is absolutely maintenance free so far.
Denise, who is gearing up to dig through the snow to plant the roses that
are supposed to arrive today via UPS!
