I wonder if anyone can give me advice on growing hostas. I have been
trying to grow 'sugar and cream' and 'sun power' since last summer. They
just could not get anywhere growing because of slugs, I thought, and that
may be part of the problem, so I finally wised up and put slug bait around
the plants. However, their stems are still being chewed off close to the
ground and I think chipmunks or squirrels are the culprits. One morning my
husband found a dead chipmunk with his mouth still on the stem of 'sugar
and cream'. How can I keep the chipmunks and squirrels away from the
plants? I have just put in 'great expectations' from Plants Delight and
really do not want anything eating it!! It seems that 'sugar and cream' is
the favorite...'sun power' mainly has holes in the leaves. Any help would
be most appreciated!!
