You might have deer-Deer love Honeybells and sudar&cream is a Honeybell
mutation.
Chipmunks do not eat leaves-they might go for flowers-but that is a story for
a different day.
Deer eat from the top of the plant and work they way down. Slugs make holes in
the leaves and the stems.
I do not know how tall your sugar&crean is but it is a nice attractive Hosta
that grows best in some sun. If will grow 2.5 feet tall and 4-5 feet wide. I
have a striated form of this plant I really love. Though I am not a fan of
striated plants.
To control slugs "slugeta' works very well for me. It looks almost like rabbit
food, sprinkle it around your Hosta every 5-6 weeks and those slugs will be
history.
