Re: Garden gate closing hardware



Hi Don--

I am one of those lurkers, but this issue got my attention.

I was once on a trip to Nauvoo, Illinois (where the Mormons settled in the
1830s or so) and they had similar restored gate closing devices made only
of a chain and an iron ball with a hook on the top.  I cannot remember how
it was attached to the fence or post, but I think there were no more parts.
 It depends on how rustic you want the finished gate to look.

The web graphics were great but look a bit more refined than what I recall.
