From your description, Lennie, I assume you are living west of the
Cascades. I lived in east-central Oregon where we only had about
18 inches of precipitation a year, it sometimes got down to -20°F. in
bad winters, up to 100°F. most summers, and rhododendons,
azaleas, and ferns were non-existent. We did have good fishing in
the river and herds of elk and deer on our ranch. Antelope were
seen not many miles away.
