I recently bought a cushion spurge in a quart pot for $.50 (among other
things). It didn't have a more descriptive tag, so I don't know the
variety. Right now, it's turning a gorgeous reddish orange. When I bought
it , it was a spindly-looking thing with tall stalks and rosettes of leaves
at the very top. For this reason, I was reluctant to cut it back because
it lacked basal foliage and I was afraid it wouldn't make it very far
without those leaves.
Now I'm thinking that perhaps I should cut back for the winter. I've seen
pictures of cushion spurge looking very... well... cushy and full. This
poor specimen looks like it has a long way to go until that point. What
does everyone recommend that I can do to get this through my zone 6a winter
and how can I encourage a fuller plant? It only has three stems right now.
