Since you are in zone 4, you might want to try the hardy varieties
developed by Ag. Canada for their Explorer and Parkland series.
I'm in zone 3 and grow Parkland roses Cutherbert Grant, Winnipeg Parks, and
Hope for Humanity and Explorer rose John Cabot. This year I'm also trying
Morden Blush (another Parkland.
These roses need only snow cover for protection. The last couple of years
we haven't had much of that and I haven't lost one bush.

pictures.
