I am sorry-I could have been a little more helpful with my last post.

I would not worry about the aphids-and go ahead and collect the seeds.
The best time to harvest them is just as the pods begin to crack.

Collect the pods and place them on a tray and allow them to dry out naturally.
Once they are dry-the pods might split open all the way -- place them in a 
large paper or plastic bag and shake the bag violently. This is to separate 
the seeds from the silk.

Collect the seeds-they should be a dark brown or tan, and store them in a 
cool dry place until your ready to sow them.
