Re: Compost and weeds

This may be slightly off topic but I want to tap the experience of this list.  I am not a conscientious composter, so when I pull or dig weeds I have a separate spot where I place them because I know they will flourish rather than decompose in MY compost pile.

What I'm wondering is whether I could add these weeds to compost if I bought one of those drum type composters, the kind where you fill it, close a door and then turn the handle to rotate the drum each day. They are advertised as creating compost quickly.  The question is whether they'd kill off weeds I added.

The weeds I have the most of are creeping Charlie, wood sorrel, sheep sorrel, chickweed, and cardamine hirsuta. A native corydalis is also reaching invasive weed status. And then there's crabgrass.

Any advice or experience?
