pineapple lily/Eucomis

how hardy are "pineapple lilies"?

Eucomis is hardy to zone 6 per Plant Delights.  I am in a colder climate and 
over winter my burgundy Eucomis  in the pot in soil after letting the foliage 
die back.  I have had mine for maybe 5 yrs and next spring I need to divide 
and repot.
