Marge: My Coleus have been on my mind this weekend too - so many very "cool"
ones were offered at some of our local nurseries this year and WOW, what an
impact they made. I've taken cuttings and will try to overwinter
then----I've never had much success either. They do fine at first then seem
to grow leggy and thick stemed. I've also allowed the ones in the garden to
bloom and set seed (kept those blooms nipped until September) with the hopes
of seeing a few pop up next year.
I guess if I loose them, I loose them. My favorite nurseries have allready
assured me that they will offer plenty next year too.
PS - I've had Caladiums root in water too. I had taken and placed some
leaves in a flower arrangement with Ginger cones and I guess a tiny piece of
the bulbs was taken with the stem......they rooted - I was amazed.
