Gene, a few years ago I bought Salvia koyame from Plant Delights. It's a bit
of a spreader and I've been underwhelmed with it, for the most part.
However...I was thinking about pulling it out this spring, instead pulled out
just part of it, and what was left really bloomed very nicely this September.
It's a pale yellow, nice to have at the time of year (autumn) when there's
so much rudbeckia yellow about. My salvia apparently just required a little
brutality to perform, and based on this year's performance, it's a definite
keeper. It's in medium shade with stuff like hostas and kirengeshoma. The
foliage isn't spectacular, but an unexceptional medium green and doesn't seem
to have any pest problems.
