A friend who grows hostas extensively tells me that the important thing tro
do for hostas in the fall is give them lots of water. Especially relevant in
the Ohio River Valley SW corner of Ohio where we have had virtually no rain
since June. He says he has had large clumps become small ones in a season.
He thinks the main clump dies for lack of water and only the newer offsets
survive--it is like starting over.
