Bob,
I have in the past cut back my geraniums, dug them up, shook all the dirt off of them,
placed them in a brown paper bag and hung them in a dark area in the basement. It
worked wonderfully for many years. Each year (around Valentine's day) I'll bring them
out and repot them. Typically by then they would have new shoots on them. Once one
even had a flower bud! Last year not one of my geraniums survived. I still have no
idea why. This treatment was successful for me for many years and I'd give it a try
again.
