Re: wintering perennials

I have also read about this procedure, but with the caveat that an
unheated basement is best - also, basements used to be "cellars",
unheated and damp, which is so different from our basements these days.
I usually pot the pelargoniums up, cut them back, and try to keep them
alive over winter, and cut back the scraggly things in the spring before
planting out. However, they never look as good as the first year. And
I've tried cuttings, but they usually rot for me. I keep trying.
