My fingernails haven't been polished for about 9 years...since I became a
serious gardener. During the busiest seasons, they are so grubby that the
best way to get them clean is to wash a whole bunch of dishes! The only
time I ever wear gloves is for working with really thorny things like
roses. Used to be, I'd put on gloves to weed, but they'd be discarded
within minutes, so I gave up the pretense.
No frost here yet, but it won't be long (maybe tonight). Weather is wet and
nasty right now. Hoping for a nice "Indian Summer" for post-frost clean-up
and bulb-planting.
