Patty,
Gaura is worth drooling over.If i were in your zone i would not give up
easily. Its very easy from seed - try it in very sandy, well drained
,protected spot. It is grown as an annual in some areas and will produce a
worthwhile specimen in one season.
I have seed available on my seed exchange list which i can email anyone
interested.
