There was also a *red* discussion awhile back - if you can't find them in
the archives, I'll send all the red suggestions that came my way,
privately.
My choice is to plant the taller plants in the middle and then the
shorter plants on both the front and back sides. I presume, when you
said the garden lines a sidewalk, that you can see the bed from both the
sidewalk and some other view (maybe the street?)
I've found that this type of arrangement gives you interesting views from
both sides and gives a nice *rounded* or *stepped* appearance to the
garden. Since not all the inner tall plants will be the same height, it
adds visual interest which pulls one's eye down the length of the garden.
