Interesting! I'll have to look up any culinary references. Not that I'm
looking for a new food source, but one never knows. ;-)
By "useless," though, I meant that the canes of F. japonica cannot be
used like any of the true bamboos -- some of which are every bit
invasive, and have taken over a riverbank or two (or seventy) here in the
eastern U.S.
