Hortus III lists A. thurberi and A. wrightii. The first is called
the Chuparosa or Desert Honeysuckle. This suggests that it might do
best in a nutritionally lean environment, so maybe it's getting to
much fertilizer, especially N. I was going to suggest that it might
be a short-day plant, but that's the case, you think you'd see some
evidence of flowering by now (though my Solandra maxima doesn't bloom
for me until nearly Christmas). In any case, good luck.
