Janis: Thanks for the infor but now I am a little confused. This plant is
really not "woody" except for the base of the plant - much like the Salvia
'Victoria'. Since I stopped pruning the plant the plant has grown by 2/3rds
- it is a good 3 feet tall.

I'm really disappointed right now because I was told that these plants are a
great source of food for hummingbirds. I have other plants that the
hummingbirds enjoy but I was hoping to see what they would do with this
plant. We have had hummingbirds daily for about a month now...it's a great
time to be in the garden (not working!!) watching the birds and insects in
action.
