Aha! So that's what I did wrong! I swear the seed description said
sylvestris was fragrant, and I was soooo disappointed. I wasn't really
impressed with the flowers, either. They're interesting, certainly, but
there's so much more stem than flower, and they like to flop, and attract
some sort of little black bugs...Some of them did, however, winter over, and
they spread quite a bit of seed.
Thanks for the correction, Claire. Now I won't feel guilty pulling them up
to plant the alata!
Oh, and I'm so excited, I wanted to share with ya'll, I now am the proud
owner of a huge hole in my back yard (and corresponding mountain of dirt!)
where my water garden is going. Empty, it looks a whole lot bigger than I
expected. For those of you that looked at our wedding site pictures, it's
going behind the rock wall. I'll post more pictures when it's done.
