Iris Question

I have planted both bearded and Japanese iris over the last few years. When
I planted them, they were at what I thought was the correct height just
below the soil. Over the years, things are creeping up and growing next to
and in the middle of them so that the crown seems to be farther below soil
level than I would plant them.
Should I dig them up and replant them?
Thanks,
Margot
