Donna, I went to a lecture this spring about making birdhouses from gourds. Sounded like a long process to dry them...a matter of all winter long. As I recall, letting them go moldy, then scaping off the mold was part of the process. They can be painted and turned into neat decoative objects. After listening to the lecture, I decided to buy dried ones rather thn make them myself. That way I had instant gratification. I'm not sure I kept the notes. If I find them will forward them to you
Lillian

Well since we are already way off topic and discussing veggies :)
DH brought home this thing.... He claims it is a squash, but I think it
is more of a gourd.... It is huge! We are talking about 2 1/2 ft long.
So my thought was to make something out of it. Anyone know how to dry
them without turning moldy?
Donna
