This spring, I planted the above mentioned Liriope, which I adore, but it's
not reliably hardy in my z.5a. Has anyone else in this zone tried it with
success?
Any ideas?

I tried it once here in Milwaukee some years ago, but without success. I, too, would be interested to find out if there is any I could do to get better results.
