That's about all I've done too...but I take it yours are growing well? Mine 
have not put on any girth or height in the 5 years that I've had them. Do you 
think a mulch of compost would be beneficial if the crown is not buried? I 
can't figure out why they don't grow...they seem othewise healthy. I know both 
that I've bought are L. muscari, not spicata (which spreads).
