Hello Merri,
That is the part I did not quite accept from my extension agent... that blister beetles only came over to visit my when the field was cut. I knew they came on over when ever the pleased. Usually just as all the clematis and anemone are at their best in foliage. Beings about early to mid July and lasts until late August. Everything they stripped is now looking better than ever from new foliage.

Gene, I do live in the country, across from a pasture with cows, but not a hayfield. The blister beetles were also on my Clematis tangutica 'Radar Love', but I don't think they did it much harm. Merri
