Gene, I do live in the country, across from a pasture with cows, but not a
hayfield.  The blister beetles were also on my Clematis tangutica 'Radar
Love', but I don't think they did it much harm.

Hello Merri,
    Curious... do you happen to live out in the country with a hay field
very close by? I was told by my extension agent that we get blister beetles
when the nearby fields are cut for hay and drives out the insects to your
gardens. I don't think he is on track, for I got the beetles before they
began cutting the fields near us. What say you??
