Interesting that Lori brings up Cleomes and Cosmos together.  I generally
plant them together, myself  

About Cosmos, when I was in Nepal last autumn, I saw a huge orange Cosmos that
was chest high with a very thick woody stem.  It looked like it MUST be at
least 2 years old.  Could it be that there are perennial varieties? 
(Doubtless not hardy in the "Great White North", though).

BTW Kathy, thanks for the tips on pinching back Cleome, I'll try it next year.
