A friend of mine lives in a condo on a corner. Every year the condo
association has had to replace a shrub next to a stone post that anchors
the sidewalk and grass. Needless to say, every dog in the neighborhood
stops at that post and uses it as a privy, or at least stops to get the 411
of the doggy world. Anything that the association has planted near that
post dies -- no surprise, huh? Not having anything in that spot would be a
real eye sore as there's shrubbery lining the rest of the property.
Question: Is there any hedge/tree/perennial that would survive the golden
showers?
Another question: If not, what could someone recommend that would deter
the dogs from using that stone post? I know of some crystallized products,
but I don't know if they would be strong enough to mask the odors of that
stone since you'd have to sprinkle the product on the ground. Is there a
spray one could use on stone? It would have to be stronger than all of the
years of use (ugh!)
