Iris borers are always a nuisance.  If I pull a leaf on an iris and comes out
too easily and looks a little rotten, I dig up the whole clump and put into
soppy water.  I also look around the dirt for the escapes.  Iris borers
actually make homes in the iris.  It is probably a good idea to move the clump
occasionally any way.  Make sure that you don't bury the rhysone too deep. The
borers really aren't too disgusting to touch.  They look similiar to redish
borer in that they don't really have moist bodies, cylinder shape white in
color about 2 inches long.  I think japanese bettle grubs really are more
disgusting looking.  I put slugs off plants too.  I hate feeling their slimy
