Well, Donna,
With your generally mild winters, you could pot those cuttings and leave
them outside all winter, simply throwing something over them if an ice
storm threatened...and yes, those very well could be "future flowers" for
you....personally, I find it almost impossible to just throw out something
trying to root; might kill it once I've potted it on, but pot on I usually
do:-)
Only care you'd have to take of them would be to make sure they didn't dry
out...you could bury the pots up to the rim in a flowerbed in a protected
spot (from winter winds), with fairly soft soil - easy to work to dig them
in. Considering that you aren't "trying" to grow them, they would probably
grow like mad:-) If they didn't make it, you've lost very little effort in
the long run.
