I live in Western Kentucky (Zone 6). This is my first year with the cardinal/cypress vine
and it has done wonderfully, but have also had small plants beginning to come up
in unwanted places. I have just pulled them up.

My mother-in-law has had this plant for years. It comes back every year , no matter how
bad the winter has been. She & I have only seen the red color. Hummingbirds love it. It loves
full sun, partial sun. I'm not sure how it does in full shade. It comes up a little later
than most spring perennials.

She started some at the base of an electric-line pole and it grew and grew, until the
electric company men tore it down. The vines are small.

It is a beautiful plant, but will get away from you if you don't keep a close eye on it.
