I believe your eye is correct - because my eye sees what your eye
sees.....looks like it to me. Tis true that plant can be very invasive if
the "potatoes" are not collect but I cut mine back and collect the potatoes
before they are allowed to fall.
I've also seen in the garden section of Better Homes or Southern Living (a
couple years ago) where someone was growing this potatoe in shallow water on
their porch. Large, lush vine coming from a bowl of water the size of a
cereal bow. I was amazed. They must have trimmed the roots.
