Re: 2,4,D and glyphosate information


I found the greenpeace summary of information on glyphosate to be pretty
good, i.e. pretty "legitimate."
One point they make, which is accurate according to the ARS   (USDA
Agricultural Research Service), is that glyphosate residue is
technically hard to measure in soil, so the tests may not be accurately
reflecting it's soil persistence.

I use EXTOXNET and the ORST database quite extensively, and they are fine.
I like Extoxnet better,
but both of them necessarily stick to the well documented information, and
do not extrapolate. Since many folks have concerns on issues that
have not been tested, it's helpful to read the greenpeace material with
it's  more "editorial" slant.

I use RoundUp extensively in managing natural areas in my town; it is much
less destructive then pulling - which
just seems to leave more areas open for new weeds to sprout. I also use it
for stump treatments - siberian elm and mulberry, etc.
are a major problem. It works very well.
