A couple of people on this list expressed interest in the Little Vermilion
State Natural Area near Georgetown, IL. THis is to inform you that the
Champaign County Audubon Society is having a field trip to this area this
Saturday, May 3. We will meet at 7 am in the parking lot behind Bevier Hall
on the U of I campus to carpool over; parking space over there is minimal.
For those who don't know about the area, it was recently acquired by the
Illinois DNR; there are 700 acres in forest, 72 acres in pasture, some still
in agriculture. We hope to see wildflowers, ferns, and birds. There are
almost no trails and none of us know the area so we will be exploring. If
you are in this area, and the idea appeals to you, please join us!
