We have not tried bur oaks, but we have a couple of nice 15' white oaks in 
our garden that my husband started from acorns.  Can't remember how many 
years ago it was, but it doesn't seem like that long. 

If you want a head start, Missouri Wildflowers Nursery sells bur oaks in 
gallon containers for $7.50 each. You can contact them at:
