Steve,
All of the values I used in Range Management Planning generally came
from the National Academy of Sciences Nutrient Requirements of Beef
Cattle. They are hopefully average values that allow one to plan for
needed supplementation during the year. The only way to get actual
values is to take samples and have the forage tested. Botanical
composition of the pasture, stage of growth, soil fertility, etc.
will all influence the nutrient content of the forage.
