Regarding eligibility for CRP several requirements are needed. 1. Must be
Highly Erodable land (HEL). 2. Must have cropping history established.
3. Must have plan established for how you are farming this HEL ground.
You need to talk to your county Agricultural Stabilization & Conservation
office. I think this is a combination of the old Soil and Water and
Governmental Farm Services groups.
If your ground is adjacent to anytype of river/waterway part of it could be
eligible for 'filter strips' which may be the only chance you have to get
anything in CRP. ILLinois , generally speaking, has too high of 'soil
rental rates' to compete with western states for CRP acceptance.
My only sucess has been with filter strips in central IL.
CRP can be a confusing process at first...
