I like the idea of letting this listserve know about any seeds that are
available. Most of us wouldn't think to be checking e-bay without being
nudged.
Lack of available local ecotype seed is a big problem here in Texas. I look
forward to a time we see so many emails from people with seed making contact
with possible clients, and from people needing seeds that we have to send
them to their own listserve. That will be a wonderful situation to be in!
The Native Prairies Association of Texas is currently, and slowly, getting
county by county surveys done for tallgrass prairie (focusing on non-coastal
tallgrass at this time). No such survey has ever been done. We are also
getting ownership information on the sites. We hope to put together a
database of prairie owners that people looking for local ecotype seeds can
contact.
