WPC Members....

List and WPC members,
I was asked to post to the list what the Anamosa site is
facing.....evidently there has been a request to make a new weigh-off
site just north of the Iowa Minnesota border...creating more competion
to an area that is way tighter then it should be......
Back when the GPC was started Anamosa was one of the 3 original
"regional" weigh-offs.... Topsfield...and Nut tree the other 2(I
think)... I have no problem with the so called expansion of the
organization....but Anamosa thinks ( as do I) there should be some
considerations to locations and how close other sites should be to each
other.....Should other sites be forced into a competion with other sites
all belonging to the same GPC......What good can come from that.....what
might happen is, we end up with a bunch of small shows that has limited
followings instead of a few large shows that bring big crowds together
with bunches of large fruit...
I would like someone to explain to me what process the GPC goes
thru to decide whether or not a new site gets added or not....OR is it
considered Just another $500 to the jackpot.....and whoever it hurts it
hurts!!! Don't we have a voting process thru all the other site
coordinators???
I'm sorry if we don't live in a huge populated area..facts are we
draw people from Minnesota....Illinios.....Iowa...and Wisconsin....and
even one from Colorado.....when the new sites were added in wisconsin we
saw an immediate impact on our site... From what I got out of the phone
call from Greg Norlin tonight...I feel without some sort of explaination
from the heads of the GPC on why we have to continue to be flooded with
weigh-off sites Anamosa will probably dump the GPC and go out on their
own..I really can't blame them considering what is going on.... I mean
look at TOPSFIELD..... They have a rule I do believe that prohibits
other GPC from forming in the area.....Please correct me if I'm wrong on
this....Thanks
Dan Carlson
On behalf of Greg Norlin Anamosa site Coordinator!!!!!.
