would schedule it 1 or 2 weeks after the GPC weigh-off. This would allow
those who participated in the GPC weigh-off to come to your weigh-off as
well. Ideally each region needs to have its own traveling circuit for
pumpkin
weigh-offs. This makes pumpkin growing more fun for everyone if they have
more weigh-offs to attend.

Brad,
Thats a good idea. I never really thought of our New Milford, Ct. pumpkin
festival as an independent site, but I guess it is.New England has 8 or 10
fairly good sized independent pumpkin contests before and after Topsfield.
There are no major shows that go off on the same day as Topsfield for it is a
very popular and well funded show. People that set up shows purposely avoid
Topsfields date so they can attend both or so they can attract a bigger
field...Including me. The New Milford pumpkin festival has raised over
30,000 bucks for local charity...so it is nice to get the biggest turnout
possible.
