   Thats a good idea. I never really thought of our New Milford, Ct. pumpkin 
festival as an independent site, but I guess it is.New England has 8 or 10 
fairly good sized independent pumpkin contests before and after Topsfield. 
There are no major shows that go off on the same day as Topsfield for it is a 
very popular and well funded show. People that set up shows purposely avoid 
Topsfields date so they can attend both or so they can attract a bigger 
field...Including me. The New Milford pumpkin festival  has raised over 
30,000 bucks for local charity...so it is nice to get the biggest turnout 
possible.
