Cayenne Pepper

Yesterday a gardner friend of mine
(who does not grow pumpkins) told me that
he uses cayenne pepper to control insects.

He dilutes a teaspoon of cayenne in
4 cups of hot water. He then filters this
solution thru a screen. He puts this in his
sprayer and sprays the leaves of his plants.
He uses this on tomatoes, eggplant, bell
peppers.......well, on just about everything
in his vegetable garden. He is very careful
to spray only the leaves, not the fruit.
He claims that it does not hurt his plants
at all. He says it controls aphids, cuke
beetles, whiteflies, etc. He applies it
twice during the growing season.

Hmmm, if I was an insect and got a taste
of cayenne.....I would probably go
elsewhere !!

Anyone ever heard of using this on
pumpkins ??

p.s. - perhaps a light spray of this on
the pumpkin might make the deer look
elsewhere for a meal.
