Soaker hose water flow

Hello,
I'm planning on connecting a couple of 55 gallon barrels together to create
individual reservoirs for each pumpkin plant. I would like to gravity feed the
water to a long length of soaker hoses wrapped around the plants.
I'm not sure, but I think the barrels would have to be elevated several feet
to obtain sufficient pressure and allow the water to pass throughout the total
length of hose. Does anyone have experience with this type of system? Would
the barrels have to be 4 to 5 feet up in the air or will this work keeping
them at or slightly above garden level?
