Oregon Update...They're In!!!

Greetings,
Well my patience has paid off and I waited until my preplanned planting date.
April 18, 1998 will be a red letter date as my seeds are in. There was a
small tremmor as I covered the mixture of potting soil over the seeds, and I
am anxiously awaiting the earthshaking rumble as they pop up through the
surface. The Hot House is set at 80 degrees and all except for the #676
LaRue, all the seeds looked great going in. As for that 676, I noticed that
it lacked the density of the other seeds, and question its fertility. Who
knows, that #469 Hester may get a good site yet, naaa.

Update time..
Today, 71 Degrees and sunny. Got my first color enhancing my farmer tan.
Killed a mole with a shovel, taught my dog to pull weeds and not veggies, and
finished the minigreenhouses. A good day to say the least.
Site #1...The #875 Lloyd 96. This site has worked up very well. Contains the
sifted cow poop. Although a new site in 1998, I have good hopes. The seed
has yet to break ground.
Site #2...The #697 Ciliberto 94. This site also has the sifted poop, and has
worked up well. Of the 4 seeds without chosen position, the 697 was the
unluck recipient of this site which recieves the least amount of sunlight.
There is obvious potential, but it will have some work to do. Seed has not
broken ground.
Site #3...The #825 Shymanski 96. This site still needs some tilling as it
recieved the composted poop. It has also had some drainage problems, but not
as bad as sites 4 and 5. I think this will be the sleeper plant which pops
the biggie. Seed has not broken ground.
Site #4...The #827 Holland 92. This site has two low spots which are holding
moisture a little more than I like to see. Thankfully, they are both near the
outside of the site where the runners will not reach until mid July. By there
should be no problem. This will be my last year with the #827, so lets see
how it goes. Seed is still hiding.
Site #5...The #567.5 Mombert 92. This site is a ditto as far as low spots.
It is also the site I have chosen to put the, no, THE SEED, in. Will a 567.5
make it to 1000 pounds??? Seed is still hiding.
Site #6...The #676 LaRue 96. This site is two years old now, and looks very
nice. I am worried about the seed however, it felt hollow, too light for its
size. I will keep a close eye on this 1 gallon pot, and if nothing happens by
the time the others are up, backups will be on the way.
All minigreenhouses are up and I had temps over 130 degrees inside today, so I
know they are working. That should kill the bugs I would think. Until next
time, part two, groundbreaking.
