I have an interesting plant in my field that is very large and vigorous. The main stem comes up and splits into a Y, with the main runner heading one direction, and the other runner going directly opposite. The main runner is out about 12-14 ft, and starts getting oblong, then turns flat side down like a three inch diameter ribbon. The vine going in the opposite direction is round and normal in appearance. The plant looks especially healthy, with large leaves and rapid growth. Is this just an agressive grower, or is this plant going to a flat vine? I am so thrilled with this plant, words cannot describe. I would appreciate anyone with first hand knowledge of the flat vine phenomenon to post their thoughts. How does one make the determination? Is the end result always bad? Are these plants sterile? >From what little I have seen on the list, I was under the assumtion that flat vines make their presence known right away, and that the plants are culled immediately. Is this always the case? Thanks, guys and gals for your input.
