Ahh, Flat Vine,
In 1995 I had a 696 Holland do it to the point of a 27 inch wide flat vine.
In 1997 my 850.5 LaRue did it as well.  In looking into the problem, or
phenon, I found it to be little more than a soil born virus.  Joel holland
grew a 808 off a flat vine.  He called it a double vine, but its the same
thing.  Do not fear, your plant is not sterile, nor will it pass the trait
down to the seeds.  In fact, if you can pollinate a pumpkin at the point where
it transforms to the flat vine, you may get a super pumpkin.
