Matthew,
I believe Lincoln was cooling the pollen to help it stay
viable longer or (last Longer). He applies the pollen with a Q-tip as far as
I know. Keep in mind several flowers may mean as many as 15 or 20 in order
to collect a capsule full of pollen.
